I have chosen to enter two very different artworks. The first artwork an oil painting (Title: “S.O.S”) was recently exhibited at Carrousel du Louvre with Queen Art Studio. The second work is a short film called "Distortions". This short film has been translated into Spanish, French, Italian, Arabic, Brazilian Portuguese and soon Polish! The French version of my film screened at Carrousel du Louvre with Queen Art Studio 2013. I have uploaded the French version but all of them have english subtitles. Artist Statement for the oil painting titled “S.O.S!” There is much conjecture as to how and why the deadly facial tumour disease took hold in the uniquely Tasmanian (Australian) creature called the Tasmanian Devil. I chose to paint it in oil because photographs are too graphic I hoped that by painting you can sense the helplessness and virtue in the animal’s eyes pleading for action to take place. Tasmanian devils represent the world’s innocence being wiped out, voraciously swallowed by greed. While stocks grow, nature is depleted. These creatures of my home are dying painfully yet the government continues to encourage logging in old growth forests and mining exploration in world heritage areas such as the Tarkine. With global warming and drastic climactic changes our governments much like those of many countries continue to dangle false hope of jobs and economic growth over what is the right thing to do: Save our Souls and those of the Tasmanian Devils. Stop destroying old growth forests around the world. Use green energy and invest in smarter cleaner alternatives. Listen to the people of the world save our planet before we go the way of the Tasmanian Devils. Distortions Artist Statement Linda Riseley uses Art to express the wordless but loud voice of the heart and the truth that lies within. They are inspired by a personal understanding of the world she inhabits and her own spiritual journey. These poetic visualisations portray the essence of her experiences and are translated into a moving form that touch our emotions and speak to our soul. Her short film Distortions deals with the unseen pain of youth and the uplifting wisdom that is learned from the journey. It goes beyond the borders of the human condition and speaks the truth in a universal way. Grinding away at the heart we search for the light within, clouded by deeds, thoughts, feelings of darkness and a blurred reality we look for our soul. Linda’s installation is designed to move the viewer through the room of her mind. Dedicated to the art of the moving image and its limitless possibility, her work is complex and intense. Images linger. The more you look, the more you are drawn into its hypnotic spell. On all levels, Linda’s work resonates with the senses. What the Artist says about her work: I consider myself to be a Digital Artist. My mediums are Digital Art, Photography, Projection, Moving Image, Animation and Drawing. The computer is my paintbrush. My art aims to always be accessible and carry positive, if not occasionally loaded messages for a better society. I will often use advertising techniques to bring my art to life with light-box’s to display those works or projecting them straight onto buildings. I enjoy showing my work in Festivals, Group shows and unexpected places. Her work continues to grow and evolve pushing the boundaries at every opportunity. Linda often uses advertising techniques to convey her political messages. With five Solo shows and over 100 Australian and International group shows Linda Riseley is determined to reach out with her art and make a difference in the world. She is also known for her Projection Art, Short films and Animations. Linda has been printed in various Art books and Magazines. Her work is in Public and private collections worldwide.
